Opportunities in the Baltic region are accessible for small businesses

What are the formalities for start-ups that have to be observed in Sweden or Finland? How do I establish a branch in Latvia? What market opportunities for my product exist in Russia or Poland? How can I find a suitable partner for my development project?

Answers to these and other issues related to establishment, expansion, export and cooperation are bundled together, regularly updated and made available as part of the EU project „BBDN − Baltic Business Development Network“.

The results are offered in the form of both Internet-based information services as well as extensive services offered by the new service centers of the participating partners in the respective regions. Task of the Service Center will be the consultancy for small and medium-sized enterprises for international activities and the networking of the currently mainly regional active counseling agencies.

The project „BBDN − Baltic Business Development Network“ is represented under the direction of the Kalmar University and also 16 other partners from all EU Baltic countries and Russia. The German partners in this project are the University of Wismar (Prof. Gunnar Prause) and the ATI West Mecklenburg, Agency for technology transfer and innovation promotion GmbH (Steffi Groth) from Schwerin. It is a project of the new − sixth − round of the program INTERREG III B Baltic European Union (EU) that will have a runtime of three years and a project volume of € 2 million. In five work packages a university and a business-related economic development agency of each country work together, in order to facilitate local companies the access to foreign markets in the Baltic region. In addition to the services in the field of transnational business activities and business start-ups for small and medium-sized companies in the participating regions, the development of the regions involved should also be achieved by creating a virtual Baltic Economic Development Agency.
